Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Walvis Bay

We arrive in Walvis Bay from Cape Town. Here we will be picked up at the airport and driven to Strand Hotel Swakopmund. The Hotel is located on the beach and in walking distance of the city centre.
In the afternoon we have time to relax on the beach, stroll through the city centre of Swakopmund or book a treatment at the spa of our hotel.
In the evening we enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants with a view of the ocean.

Day 2: Flight along the Atlantic coast to the Skeleton Park

We enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we are transferred to the airport in Walvis Bay. Maybe we have a bit of time to do some sightseeing or even visit the Museum, Aquarium or Snake Park (optional). From Walvis Bay we fly along the Atlantic Coast to Möwe Bay, Skeleton Coast. We might see some shipwrecks stranded on the shore.
At Möwe Bay we are picked up and transferred to the Shipwreck Lodge, in the famous Skeleton Coast Park.
The lodge is nestled between the dunes and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The main building and especially the bungalows captivate with their extraordinary architecture. All chalets offer a small stove for colder evenings and a cosy bathroom. The lodge is an excellent starting point to explore the fascinating and breath-taking landscape of the rugged Skeleton Coast. Due to its direct location on the Atlantic coast, you should expect sometimes cold nights, foggy mornings and evenings, gusty winds, and plenty of sun during the day - the true and unique face of the Skeleton Coast. The Shipwreck Lodge is the perfect accommodation in this inhospitable area, which you should have visited at least once in your life!
We will discuss our program for today and tomorrow with the lodge management. Activities offered by the lodge include beach lunch (weather permitting), Hoarusib River Excursion, introduction to the Skeleton Coast and Sundowner drive. Quad biking and Sandboarding offer excitement for the more adventurous.

Day 3: Skeleton Coast

The Hoarusib River excursion is worth joining. We spend the morning exploring the Hoarusib River, visit the Clay Castles and might even spot the elusive desert adapted elephants, brown hyenas, and lions.
On the Introduction to the Skeleton Coast, you will see what is left of the victims of the treacherous coastline. These include the decaying ships, the remains of a Bentura Bomber and the abandoned diamond mine.
We choose activities we want to join. In the down time we enjoy our comfortable lodge and the rough landscape on the coat of Namibia.

Day 4: Etosha National Park

After breakfast we fly to the Etosha National Park, which is one of the largest game reserves in the world with almost 23'000 km2. Dozens of mammal and reptile species, several amphibian species and mor than 300 bird species call the Etosha National Park their home.
The parks most notable geological feature is a salt pan so large it can be seen from space. The salt pan is normally dry, however in the raining season fills up with water which attracts flamingos, pelicans, and other waterbirds.
The abundant wildlife congregates around the waterhole which almost guarantees game sightings.
In the afternoon we go on a guided game drive in the Etosha National Park. The experienced lodge guide will show us the fauna and flora of this fascinating landscape and hopefully we see some giraffes, springbok, oryx, elephants and zebras,
Back at the lodge we are being spoilt with a delicious dinner and a good wine selection.

Day 5: Etosha National Park

Early morning, we take another game drive into the park, where we might see some nocturnal animals on their way home from their nightly activities. We return to Mushara for lunch and to enjoy the pool at the lodge.
On a last game drive in the afternoon, we search for the elusive black rhino, lions, and shy leopard.
In the evening we look up into the sky and enjoy the multitude of the twinkling stars and the brightly visible Milky Way.

Day 6: Flight to AfriCat Foundation

We leave the Etosha Park behind us and fly to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation. Here, projects for the care and reintroduction of injured or previously captive animals are carried out and explained, as well as research projects on the African big cats, but also on the African Wild Dogs.
In the afternoon on the Leopard Tracking Activity, we drive out into the Okonjima Nature Reserve and get the opportunity to experience these magnificent predators up close - pure goose bumps!
The Okonjima African Villa is situated in a 22'000 ha private nature reserve in the middle of the Omboroko Mountains.

Day 7: Okonjima

In the Morning we will go on another game drive. We learn and understand more about the fauna and flora of the private Nature Reserve. On this game drive we have the possibility to see the shy Brown Hyena, Aardvark, Bat-eared fox, and Rhino.
Returning to the camp we could visit the AfriCat Foundation Carnivore Care & Information Centre (ACCC) (optional).
Back in the camp we can enjoy lunch and relax next to the pool before we go on another game drive which focuses on the wildlife on the reserve. More than 40 mammal species call the reserve their home.

Day 8: Flight To Windhoek

Today’s flight to Windhoek takes us over the Namib Desert and Khomas Hochland to the international airport in time for our departure flight back home.
